The problem with a lineup so overloaded with talent as the 2012 Detroit Jazz Festival is that you can go crazy trying to hear everything. Trust me. I spent 11 hours Saturday frantically dipping in and out of sets all over the festival site, and Im nearly ready for a padded cell, or at least a good long sleep. Frankly, running too much between acts is not the best way to experience the festival. You sacrifice the rewarding journey of a well-paced set and the chance to really get in tune with the language of a band.
